Bruno Cheyrou is looking forward to taking on his former club as Rennes travel to Bordeaux this Saturday.
The midfielder was loaned to Bordeaux from Liverpool last season but Les Girondins decided not to take up the option of signing him for é¼1 million (£700,000) in the summer.
Cheyrou cannot understand why he was allowed to join Rennes, but insists he does not feel bitter towards his former employers.
"I go there to play well with Rennes, but I will meet the fans and good friends, so that will be special," he told But!
"I did well with them last season and I don't know why I didn't stay there.
"But I don't want to feel revenge when I face them."
Cheyrou could not nail down a regular place for Liverpool during his four years at Anfield, and was loaned out to Marseille before his spell at Bordeaux.
Now an established member of the Rennes side, Cheyrou admits that the constant upheaval was unsettling.
"Bordeaux were tempted to negotiate with Liverpool but I couldn't wait until the end of August," he explained.
"Now I have more stability. My career would have been better with more stability."
