Bordeaux eye Euro domination

Bordeaux's chairman wants to establish the club as one of European football's elite.

Bordeaux want to establish themselves as one of European football's elite, according to their chairman.

Coach Ricardo led Les Girondins to second in the French top flight last season, which saw them qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

But the club and chairman Jean-Louis Triaud want to maintain their place in the upper echelons of European football for the long-term.

"Our objective will always be the same: defend our chances the best we can," Jean-Louis Triaud told the club's website.

"In Ligue 1, we want to qualify for the Champions League every season."

Johan Micoud returned to the club from Werder Bremen at the end of last season and four more players are expected to join him before the new campaign begins.

Osasuna's winger Ludovic Delporte, Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto from Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain's Paulo Cesar and Alaves' striker Nene (pictured) currently top Ricardo's wish list.
