Johan Micoud is very happy to be back at Bordeaux.

The midfielder was eager to return to his native France and sealed a move to Bordeaux last week.

"I had some good years in Germany, but my day to day life is also very important to me," he told Sud-Ouest.

"My family really wanted to come back to France.

"I felt a lot of emotion when I first walked back onto the training pitch."

Micoud has signed a two-year deal at the Stade Chaban-Delmas and joins the club for the second time in his career.

After playing in Germany for four seasons, the midfield ace is fully aware of the contrasting styles of play in the two countries.

"The French Ligue 1 is often criticised, but I aim to show people that we can also have fun in France.

"The Bundesliga is much more offensive, you play to score many goals.

"France is more tactical, more defensive and has the better keepers."

Scoring a glut of goals for Bordeaux is not a priority for Micoud, as long as the defence does its job in keeping out the opposition.

"We can win every match 1-0 and become champions, that would not be a problem for me."
