Johan Micoud has expressed delight at securing a return to Bordeaux.
The gifted playmaker signed a two-year contract on Friday after Les Girondins thrashed out a deal with Werder Bremen.
A clutch of teams were keen on landing the 32-year-old, but Micoud claims he had eyes only for Bordeaux.
"My goal was to come back to France after four years in Germany where I had great times as far as sport was concerned, but it was hard for my family," Micoud told a news conference.
"My priority was Bordeaux and there has been no contact with other clubs."
Micoud is not looking to wind down his career, as he added: "I can see that the club is developing and trying to improve and I want to be part of this challenge.
"Next year we will try and unsettle Lyon. I have come to win titles."
