Bordeaux midfielder Rio Mavuba has refuted talk that he has been in contact with Marseille.

The highly-rated Mavuba has struggled for first-team football in recent months and has been linked with a summer departure.

He has previously been mooted as a target for UEFA Champions League finalists Arsenal, but Marseille are now thought to be showing the strongest interest.

However, Mavuba has repeatedly stressed his desire to fight for his place at Bordeaux, who are aiming to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The 21-year-old also downplayed talk of a switch to Marseille, but intimated he may consider his future in the summer, if his circumstances at Bordeaux do not change.

"Marseille...a lot of people talk to me about them, but I am not in contact with them," Mavuba told Sud Ouest.

"My only link with them is Franck [Ribery]. I get on very well with him.

"If the coach doesn't count on me, I will think about it."
