Czech Republic forward Vladimir Smicer is confident that he will be fit to line up at this summer's World Cup.

The Bordeaux star has been sidelined since February with a knee problem he picked up against Metz, and has struggled to recover as quickly as expected.

He is now on a week-long programme of physiotherapy in Germany, and is hoping to be back in action before the end of the regular season.

"I should be ready to play from the middle of April," said the 32-year-old.

"Hopefully I will be able to play in some of the fixtures in French league, but you never know what will happen with the knee."

Whether Smicer is fit to play club football before the World Cup or not, he assured fans that he would be ready for international duty in the summer.

"If I had to risk playing in the last two league games for example, and I knew that something bad would happen to my knee, I would not play," he revealed.

"I will certainly be ready for the World Cup finals."
