The Juventus ace picked up a thigh problem during his side's 2-0 win over Internazionale last weekend.
Trezeguet is set to be sidelined for up to ten days meaning he will miss the games against Switzerland and Cyprus this week.
The news is a blow for France coach Raymond Domenech as Les Bleus are already without Thierry Henry for both games and it seems certain Liverpool's Djibril Cisse will start in attack.
France are also without Monaco defender Gael Givet as he is struggling with a thigh injury and Bordeaux's Franck Jurietti has been drafted in as his replacement.
