Werder Bremen target Abdoulaye Meite is waiting for Marseille to decide upon his future.

The Ivory Coast international has been the subject of a bid from Werder, although this was rejected by Marseille.

The German outfit have lined up Meite as their back-up option if they fail in their efforts to sign Naldo from Brazilian club Juventude.

Meite is currently unsettled at Stade Velodrome, as the defender is looking for an increase in his wages.

The full back is under contract until 2008 but wants a hike in his salary and concedes his future on the South Coast is cloudy.

"Nothing has been decided yet," admitted Meite.

"I am training to stay at Marseille but anything can happen."

If Marseille lose the services of Meite, they could move for Bordeaux defender David Jemmali.

Meanwhile, Nigerian defender Taye Taiwo is set to ink a two-year contract extension with Marseille.

PSV Eindhoven recently asked to take Taiwo in exchange for Lee Young-pyo but the youngster is to be rewarded with a new deal at l'OM.
