Camel has hump at Sevilla link

Bordeaux's Camel Meriem has poured cold water on reports of a move to Sevilla.

Bordeaux midfielder Camel Meriem has poured cold water on reports of a move to Sevilla.

The Primera outfit revealed last week that the 25-year-old was one of their chief summer transfer targets.

They have already seen an offer for the playmaker rejected, but are still pursuing him.

However, Meriem himself insists he is not seeking a move from Bordeaux and hinted he would be looking for a bigger stage than Sevilla if he did choose to move on.

"I have never had any with a Sevilla official," he told L'Equipe.

"I just know that the club is interested in me, but it is a long way from being my priority.

"If I leave it will be for an attractive sporting challenge - I won't just go anywhere.

"If I leave Bordeaux it will be for a great club."

Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud confirmed the club had received an offer from Sevilla, but insisted they had rejected it out of hand and had fielded no further contact.

"Sevilla made a proposition by fax, but we could not accept it and I have not signed anything," Triaud stated.

"If Sevilla officials say they met us, they are lying."
