Nice chief slams players

By Patrick Haond
Several Nice players took a hammering from their chairman for their over-physical approach during the 5-0 hammering against Lyon.

Nice boss Gernot Rohr refused to condemn his troops, but chairman Maurice Cohen was furious with the image some of his squad projected during the match.

A few bad tackles were seen during the game from Nice, most notably Romain Pitau's shocking challenge on Sidney Govou.

Cohen says that his players should not have used such strong-arm tactics as it gave the club a bad name.

"I saw gestures unworthy of high level competitors," fumed Cohen. "Our team has a very physical game, it is true.

"But it is completely different with the behaviour of some of them at Lyon. The defeat is logical but I am disturbed by the way we lost."

Meanwhile, Nice boss Gernot Rohr is keen to bring Bordeaux's young defender Marc Planus to the club during the winter transfer window.

The centre half had limited chances to play under Elie Baup and has had even less of a look-in since new coach Michel Pavon took the helm at Parc Lescure.

Rohr wants to sign Planus as soon as possible and may even try and bring him to Stade du Ray before January as a joker.
