MONACO missed the chance to go joint-top of Le Championnat after being held to a 2-2 draw by Bordeaux at Parc Lescure on Friday night.

Brazilian ace Savio's second half strike was enough to give the home side a point in an entertaining clash.

Former Lyon midfielder Ludovic Giuly fired the visitors in front after 19 minutes, but former Nottingham Forest ace Jean-Claude Darcheville replied for the home side on the half hour.

Congo striker Shabani Nonda restored Monaco's lead right on the stroke of half time to put Didier Deschamps troops back in control.

Real Madrid star Savio, who is on a season long loan at Bordeaux, grabbed the home side a point with a 65th minute equalsier.

The point was good enough to lift Monaco into the top five while Bordeaux climb up to ninth.
