Lens coach Francis Gillot has confirmed the need to add a left back to his squad before the end of the month.
Gillot allowed Gregory Vignal to join Kaiserslautern on loan after the former Liverpool stopper failed to impress following his summer switch.
But the Sang-et-Or club have just one left back in Marco Ramos, meaning central defender Nicolas Gillet has been forced to deputise at times.
A new left back is Lens' priority in the transfer window, with Gillot taking stock of the options available.
"Ludovic Magnin hasn't played for Stuttgart for many months," Gillot said.
"Also there's Franck Signorino, but we would have to agree a permanent transfer as Nantes will not let him leave on loan. We can't pay é¼3-4million (£2-2.65million).
"I went to Poland to look at Legia Warsaw's Grzegorz Bronowicki, but he doesn't suit me. I don't really like right-footed players that play on the left.
"FC Porto's Marek Cech is too expensive.
"With all the matches we still have to play, we need a player."
