L'OM propose new Lens swap

Marseille are hoping to get their hands on Lens midfielder Alou Diarra.

Marseille are hoping to get their hands on Lens midfielder Alou Diarra by proposing a swap deal involving Peguy Luyindula.

Lens have already rejected one chance to sign Luyindula this summer when l'OM asked for an exchange involving defender Vitorino Hilton.

But reports suggest the Northern French club are more amenable to the idea of trading Diarra for unsettled striker Luyindula.

The stumbling block, though, could prove to be the interest in Luyindula from elsewhere, with Sevilla, Werder Bremen and Bordeaux keen.

L'OM are hoping to reinforce their midfield with the acquisition of Diarra, but can not afford the £4 million asking price.

An Italian club are also chasing the France international, but Marseille are waiting to see if Lens follow up the idea of a swap.

Meanwhile, Marseille are now considering a move for Swiss international Ludovic Magnin of Stuttgart after deeming Newcastle centre half Jean-Alain Boumsong too expensive.
