Lens midfielder Seydou Keita has penned a two-year contract extension at the club.
Keita has been an integral member of Lens' squad since his move to the Stade Felix-Bollaert in 2002 and coach Francis Gillot was keen to keep the 26-year-old at the club.
Lens chairman Gervais Martel is hoping Keita will be able to educate new signing, and namesake, Sidi Keita over the next couple of seasons.
"There has been an agreement between the player and the club," a spokesman confirmed on the Lens' official website.
"The Mali international will stay at Lens until 2008."
With both Keitas secured to long-term deals, it is likely to pave the way for Alou Diarra to leave the club after the World Cup, with Lyon clear favourites to win the race to sign the French international.
