Lille again failed to take full advantage of leaders Lyon dropping points.Lille again failed to take full advantage of leaders Lyon dropping points as they drew at Ajaccio, while Auxerre edged a seven-goal thriller with Nice.
With Lyon being held 1-1 at home by Marseille on Saturday, Lille could have reduced the gap at the top to just a point by beating Ajaccio.
But Lille were frustrated visitors to Corsica, as they had to settle for a 0-0 draw against the team who are second from bottom.
In contrast, Auxerre were in free-scoring mode at home to Nice, as they got the better of a nip-and-tuck contest.
Nice had Victor Agali sent off a minute before the interval for two yellow cards before Rene Bolf put Auxerre ahead on the stroke of half time.
The away side were quickly level after the break through Sammy Traore, only for Benjamin Mwaruwari's 55th minute goal to be the catalyst for five goals in seven minutes.
Marama Vahirua's penalty brought Nice back level, only for Bonaventure Kalou to restore Auxerre's lead within 60 seconds.
Olivier Echouafni's 61st minute strike restored parity once more but, again, within 60 seconds, Mwaruwari had poached the winner for Auxerre.
The in-demand Mohamed Kallon rescued a point for Monaco in their home clash with Bordeaux.
Kallon netted in the 42nd minute at Stade Louis II after Bordeaux had taken the lead after just eight minutes when former Nottingham Forest striker Jean-Claude Darcheville scored.
Paris Saint Germain edged closer to the European berths with a convincing 3-0 victory at home to Metz.
The capital side did not look back once Medhi Meniri put through his own net on 40 minutes, with Pauleta's penalty and Fabrice Pancrate doing the damage in the second half.
Goals from Benjamin Psaume and Daniel Moreira were sufficient to earn Toulouse a 2-0 triumph at Caen.
Istres remain rooted to the foot of the table, as goals from Julien Sable and Frederic Mendy in the first half gained the points for St Etienne.
The visitors also overcame the setback of having Zoumana Camara sent off in the second half.
Daniel Cousin struck in each half for Lens at home to Bastia, with the away side netting a consolation through substitute Tony Vairelles.
Strasbourg moved out of the relegation zone, as Cedric Kante's 15th minute goal was enough to see off Rennes at home.
