Talented midfielder Jerome Leroy will join Lens after a series of laborious negotiations between the French top-flight outfit and his current club Guingamp.

It had been thought St Etienne had stolen a march for Leroy's signature but Lens are now the firm favourites to land the one-time Tottenham target.

Having failed to avoid the drop last season, Guingamp are keen to cash in on Leroy and a fee of ‚é¼500,000 should be enough to persuade them to part with one of their prized assets.

Meanwhile, full back Cyril Rool has reportedly been earmarked for a move to Bordeaux, although Bolton are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Lens have also been linked with a move for Liverpool's Alou Diarra on a season's loan - possibly as a replacement for Papa Bouba Diop - who is being eyed by Premiership outfit Portsmouth.
