Lens close on Le Mans striker

Lens are expected to win the race for Le Mans' coveted forward Daniel Cousin.

The 27-year-old made a big impression during his first season in Le Championnat, although his 11 goals were unable to save Le Mans from relegation.

However, his displays for the struggling club earned him plenty of recognition, with Premiership trio Charlton Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Wolves rumoured to be on his trail.

Cousin, though, recently admitted he did not feel ready to move abroad and was keen to link up with one of France's bigger clubs.

Sochaux, Nantes and Rennes are also among his admirers but speculation in France suggests Lens are set to clinch Cousin's signature within the next week.
