Camara is one of the most highly-rated defenders in France, and Marseille are keen to start a bidding war for the French international's signature.
"Paris Saint Germain and Lens are interested, but there is also an English club ready to bid," said controversial sports director Bernard Tapie.
"He is a future great defender."
Camara did have a brief spell in Italy, where he was owned by Internazionale, but was loaned out to Empoli after failing to win a place in the first team squad.
A second loan spell out of Milan brought him to French side Bastia, and he impressed enough for Marseille to bring the former Saint Etienne star back to Le Championnat.
