Arsenal defender ruled out with thigh injury

William Gallas has pulled out of France's squad for their qualifier with Romania due to injury. The Arsenal defender is struggling with a small tear to his right thigh. France coach Raymond Domenech has called up former Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong as cover for Gallas. Rennes striker Jimmy Briand has also been drafted into the squad as doubts continue to surround the fitness of Chelsea star Nicolas Anelka who is also suffering from a thigh problem. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be hoping that Gallas' injury is not serious and that he will recover in time for next weekend's clash with Everton.
