Armand tempted by exit

PSG's Sylvain Armand was very interested in Lyon's offer prior to penning a new deal.

Paris Saint Germain defender Sylvain Armand has revealed he was very interested in Lyon's offer prior to penning a new deal.

The 26-year-old had been keen on talking terms with the Ligue 1 champions, but opted to stay after not being allowed to leave.

Armand stated he was never interested in Lyon's money as it was the prospect of a fresh challenge with the French giants that tempted him to leave.

"As the chairman didn't want to open the door for a Lyon transfer, things were very clear," he told L'Equipe.

"If the clubs have found an agreement, I would have been keen to leave. But I didn't want to enter any trial of strength with PSG.

"I thought about Lyon's offer. Not really on financial level because I'm not unhappy at Paris, but on sport level. I believe there was something exciting to achieve at Lyon.

"I talked a lot with the PSG coach and the chairman. I always stated I feel at ease at Paris."
