Former Nantes player Jeremy Toulalan has backed Les Canaris to avoid relegation from the top flight.
Toulalan, who now plays for Lyon, believes Nantes, currently third from bottom in Ligue 1, have to put up a battle as the season end draws close.
"They have to remain cold-blooded, I know it is not that easy," Toulalan told AFP.
"I don't know if they are going to go down, but if they do, that won't be easy for them.
"In my knowledge, Ligue 2 is much more physical and I don't know if Nantes are prepared for those kind of fights.
"I hope they will stay in Ligue 1. I am still in contact with Nicolas Savinaud and Frederic da Rocha, they tell me it is difficult but I have nothing to teach them.
"They have experienced great and bad moments with Nantes. My advice is the following, they have to hang on."
