Lyon coach Gerard Houllier is determined to sign a striker to add to his injury-hit front line in January.

Though the club's chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is reluctant to sanction a purchase, Houllier is anxious to boost his attacking options.

Fred, Karim Benzema and John Carew are all currently injured, while one option to move infield - Sylvain Wiltord - is also carrying a knock.

To that end, Houllier has been linked with a string of names, although he dismissed any interest in Aston Villa forward Milan Baros.

Nicklas Bendtner, currently on loan at Birmingham City from Arsenal, has also been floated as a potential target for the French champions.

Bayern Munich's Roque Santa Cruz, Sibenik's Ante Rukavina, PSV Eindhoven's Arouna Kone and St Etienne's Frederic Piquionne are also rumoured to be under consideration.

Meanwhile, Houllier is also plotting an end-of-season bid for Pape Diakhate, who reportedly has an agreement to leave Nancy in the summer.

The Senegalese defender, though, is also wanted by Juventus, Bayern, Schalke and Stuttgart after an impressive campaign with Nancy, where he is under contract until 2009.
