Lyon midfielder Alou Diarra was pleased to turn in a good performance in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Auxerre.
The 25-year-old has not been able to break into the Lyon side on a regular basis since his summer switch from Lens, but was given a rare chance to impress against Auxerre.
"Was the game good for my state of mind? No, because my state of mind has always been good," he said.
"It was more important for my fitness, because I need that kind of match to be at my best on a physical level.
"Was it my best match with Lyon so far? I haven't played many matches, but indeed it was probably my most complete performance."
Lyon boss Gerard Houllier, meanwhile, declared that Eric Abidal missed the game due to a knee worry.
"A few hours before kick-off a knee pain reappeared, so that is why we preferred to give him some rest," Houllier explained.
