Lyon were grateful for two late Sylvain Wiltord strikes to keep their French League Cup campaign going against Paris Saint Germain.

The French champions trailed to Paulo Cesar's 58th penalty after Cristian Rodriguez had been brought down in the area.

Cesar's goal looked to have sent PSG through until Wiltord struck an 88th minute equaliser.

The Frenchman popped up seconds later to net the winner for Lyon and put the hosts into the last eight.

St Etienne also claimed a place in the last eight with a convincing 4-1 win over ten-man Marseille.

Elie Baup's men were two up by half time after goals from Fousseni Diawarra (33) and Yohann Hautcoeur (45).

Bafetimbi Gomis had the hosts in total command on 50 minutes, although Mickael Pagis pulled one back five minutes later from the penalty spot.

Wilson Oruma was dismissed for his second bookable offence midway through the second half and Daniel Bilos wrapped up the scoring with another penalty on 73 minutes.

Bordeaux were 1-0 winners at Auxerre thanks to Jean-Claude Darcheville's 22nd minute strike.

The result could have been very different had Lilian Laslandes not missed a late penalty for the hosts.

On Tuesday, struggling Monaco were knocked out by Ligue 2 side Reims, but holders Nancy, Rennes, Le Mans and Sochaux all secured safe passages.

Tuesday's results:

Le Mans 3-1 Lens
Lille 0-2 Rennes
Nancy 2-1 Toulouse
Reims 0-0 Monaco (Reims win 4-3 on penalties)
Sochaux 5-0 Dijon

Wednesday's results:

St Etienne 4-1 Marseille
Lyon 2-1 Paris Saint Germain
Auxerre 0-1 Bordeaux
