Janot wins top gong

Jeremy Janot has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September.

Jeremy Janot has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September.

The St-Etienne goalkeeper put in some great performances during the month, most notably during the win over Paris Saint Germain.

On Saturday against Lyon, despite the defeat, Janot pulled off a fine penalty save.

In the vote he came out on top over Nancy midfielder Benjamin Gavanon and Lyon striker Fred.

Janot was elated with the award but vowed to remain focused for the rest of the season, rather than chase individual accolades.

"I take that trophy as a reward for the job I have done," said Janot, who has recently expressed a desire to play in England.

"But now people will expect much more from me.

"The more you get praise the more you risk criticism.

"But that kind of pressure suits me well. I will just try to go on my way. Staying the same and continuing my work."
