Liga giants Valencia have reportedly begun negotiations with Lyon for the signing of French international Sidney Govou.
The versatile 26-year-old attacker is currently away with the national squad preparing for the World Cup final against Italy on Sunday, but domestically his transfer saga continues to roll on.
The Stade Gerland forward put in a transfer request with the Ligue 1 champions at the end of last season, citing a desire to move abroad.
Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores could now add Govou to his squad for the imminent UEFA Champions League and Spanish top flight campaigns, which lie ahead.
Fernando Morientes has already sealed his move to the Estadio Mestalla, while several other players' futures remain uncertain.
Midfielder Stefano Fiore is yet to secure a permanent move to Fiorentina, while striker Patrick Kluivert and marksman Marco Di Vaio are also seeking new clubs and the money made from those transfers could be used to fund Govou's move.
The player, meanwhile, has been used solely as a substitute at the World Cup so far, but will be hoping to make a more significant impact on the final against Italy in Berlin on Sunday.
