Monaco defender Sebastien Squillaci is being strongly linked with a move to French champions Lyon.
Reports suggest that Sylvain Monsoreau could be sent in the opposite direction in order to seal the move - although it will not be a swap deal.
French international Squillaci is keen for a new challenge and now Lyon look set to move for a player they have previously made bids for.
Squillaci is reported to have already agreed terms with Lyon and is now only waiting for the two teams to thrash out an agreement.
Monsoreau could help smooth the move other as Monaco could take him as a ready-made replacement.
The 25-year-old has not settled at Lyon since joining from Sochaux.
Rennes are also keen on Monsoreau but they only want him on loan, which means a move to Monaco seems more likely.
Monaco, meanwhile, are also being linked with a move for Lille midfielder Mathieu Chalme.
