Monsoreau denies done deal

Sochaux stopper Sylvain Monsoreau has not agreed a move to Werder Bremen.

Sochaux stopper Sylvain Monsoreau insists he has not yet agreed a move to Werder Bremen, but is tempted to move to Die Bundesliga.

Bremen are in the market for a new centre back with Valerien Ismael likely to depart, and invited Monsoreau to the Weser Stadion in a bid to tempt him into a move.

The trip has had the intended effect on Monsoreau after he admitted he was impressed with the setup at Thomas Schaaf's side, although he refuted claims that a deal was done and dusted.

Lyon have also reputedly enquired about the 24-year-old, who conceded that after interest from Paris Saint Germain fell away Bremen remain the favourites for his signature over German rivals Bayern Munich - although he could yet remain at Stade Bonal.

"I have not signed anything yet even if Bremen have approached me," Monsoreau told But! "The German officials would like to hire me.

"Last week I was in Bremen to visit the facilities, they were wonderful and the stadium is beautiful.

"When I give the green light, if I give it, the negotiations between both sides will start.

"Even though I visited the Werder facilities that doesn't mean I will sign there, if I stay at Sochaux, there wont be any trouble.

"Bremen is the first club to have contacted me, I have nothing else yet.

"When Alain Roche was sport director PSG contacted me but I have no more news, I don't expect anything from Paris.

"Two clubs are now in my mind: Sochaux and Bremen.

"Sochaux chairman Jean-Claude Plessis wants to keep me, I am under contract until 2007 and he proposed an extension to me, today it is 50-50.

"Werder is the most concrete but Bayern Munich asked for information even if they didn't contact me directly, then perhaps a French club will make an offer."

Meanwhile team-mate Wilson Oruma is also the subject of interest, as the out-of-contract midfielder is reputedly a target for new Marseille sport director Jose Anigo.

However Oruma has been tabled an attractive offer by Nice, who would provide l'OM with strong competition for his signature.
