Levante are lining up a move for out-of-favour Lyon striker Giovane Elber.

The Brazilian looks certain to leave Stade Gerland during the transfer window after being omitted from the club's squad list for the second half of the season.

Clubs in France can register no more than four non-EU players in their squads, and Lyon have opted for Brazilians Juninho, Cris, Nilmar and Claudio Cacapa.

Subsequently, Elber has been left out in the cold, and has publicly criticised the reigning French champions for his treatment.

Reports in Spain claim he has already been offered to Levante, amongst other European clubs, and is one of five strikers the Valencia-based outfit are considering.

The 32-year-old is now fully recovered from a leg break suffered in August, and - given that his contract expires at the end of the season - is likely to be available for a nominal fee.

Levante are hoping to boost their firepower after a down-turn in form in recent months, and reportedly see Elber as the ideal man to pep up their frontline.
