Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has hit out at the attitude of Giovane Elber.Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has hit out at the attitude of Giovane Elber, who has been labelled the club's riskiest signing.
The Brazilian striker joined the French champions from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2003 and enjoyed a fine first season at Stade Gerland.
But Elber has infuriated Lyon supremo Aulas this term as the 32-year-old recovers from an ankle injury sustained in the early weeks of the campaign.
Elber declined to be treated by Lyon's medical staff and headed to Germany for surgery while he also held talks with Borussia Monchengladbach.
He failed to return to training on schedule, prompting Lyon to drop Elber from their squad and replaced him with compatriot Nilmar, who takes the final non-EU spot.
Aulas admits he is bitterly upset with Elber for his attitude in recent months and feels the forward has forgotten the gamble Lyon took on him.
"I have no news from Giovane Elber," Aulas told L'Equipe.
"He has decided to have new surgery in Germany and he was wrong to criticise Lyon's medical staff.
"I also notice that he wasn't present on December 29 for the resumption of training.
"He strives hard to inflame things while he puts himself in a position of being in breach of contract.
"He does what he wants, as he wants, when he wants. With him everything becomes an issue.
"He wants to play again in February but I heard my doctors say that his ankle is even worse than before the surgery.
"It is a human disappointment because his signing was a little bit of madness.
"I took a financial risk to make him come to this club. He has by far and away the biggest wages at the club."
