Govou eyeing English move

SIDNEY GOVOU has admitted that he may look to move to England at the end of the season.

The striker has been a key figure in Lyon's title successes in the last two years, and he pledged during the summer to spend one more season at Stade Gerland.

Govou feels he is close to full fitness and is ready to prove his worth to watching clubs over the course of this season.

Commenting on his future options and a possible move to England, Govou said: "It's a little early to talk about that, there are so many things that can happen.

"But it is true that this season could decide a lot of things.

"I am attracted by the English league, the atmosphere is great and there is always space for forwards."

The French international is hoping to make a return to action at the weekend, after two months on the sidelines, but is still troubled by his ankle injury.

"It's difficult," the 24-year-old told France Football. "I must be patient.

"My ankle is still not strong enough, sometimes the pain returns and it makes me worry.

"For the moment the most important thing is to find my level.

"Will I play on Saturday? It is up to the coach to decide as I need to be fit to play.

"However, it is my desire to start my season against Auxerre."

Govou has set himself some lofty targets for the season, as he added: "With Lyon, we have to qualify from the first round of the Champions League.

"According to me, on quantity and quality levels, we are a little stronger than last year.

"In the league, the priority is to qualify once again for the Champions League.

"With Les Bleus, I aim for selection for the Euros in Portugal. I hope to participate.

"It is a big aim to be selected for Euros."
