Bastia chairman Francois Nicolai stated that the Ghanaian midfielder is '95 percent' certain to join up with PSG, despite interest from a host of top European teams.
"We have found an agreement with Paris," stated Nicolai.
"I am taking it for granted that Essien will play in Paris next season.
"I would say it is 95 percent certain."
Lyon also made a strong bid for the player, but wanted to include Frederic Nee in the deal - although the player was reticent to move to Corsica.
The fee could be as much as £4 million, with the 21-year-old rated as one of the stars of the future.
