LYON have virtually retained Le Championnat title following a 1-1 draw at Montpellier as the penultimate round of matches in the French top-flight took place on Tuesday evening.

The French league leaders went a goal behind when Habib Bamogo gave Montpellier a 1-0 lead but Juninho Pernambucano's (pictured) first half equaliser was enough to give the visitors an invaluable point.

Lyon are three points clear of Marseille with a goal difference advantage of plus 21 goals, with only one round of matches remaining in the season on Saturday.

Marseille kept their faint hopes of clinching the title alive with a 4-2 victory over Sedan, thanks to goals by Sebastien Perez, Cyril Chapuis, Brahim Hemdani and Lamine Sakho.

Sedan got replies through Pius N'Diefi and a Perez own-goal while Frederic Brando was sent off for serious foul play.

Monaco's title hopes ended following a 3-1 defeat in Guingamp, with Stephane Carnot scoring two goals for the home side.

Florent Malouda got Guingamp's third while Shabani Nonda replied for Monaco.

Bordeaux stay fourth following a 1-1 draw in Nice. Eric Roy opened the scoring for the home side but Maromane Chamakh equalised for Les Girondins.

Sochaux and Auxerre are both level on points with Bordeaux, with Sochaux drawing 2-2 in Corsica with Bastia.

Lilian Laslandes scored both of Bastia's goals while a Nisa Saveljic penalty and Pierre-Alain Frau got Sochaux's replies.

Auxerre came from behind to win 2-1 in Strasbourg. Vaclav Drobny put the home side in front but goals by Yann Lachuer and Olivier Kapo gave Guy Roux's men all three points.

Paris Saint Germain played out a drab goalless draw with Rennes at the Parc des Princes while Lens pulled level on points with PSG following a 3-1 win at Le Havre.

Antoine Sibierski, Papa Bouba Diop and Dagui Bakari scored the goals for the visitors while Laurent Ciechelski got the lone reply for Le Havre.

Troyes got the better of Nantes with a 2-0 victory - Raphael Nade and Nassim Akrour with the goals for the home side.

Finally, Lille defeated Ajaccio 2-0 with goals from Mathieu Delpierre and Mile Sterjovski.

Ajaccio's Herve Alicarte was sent off for violent conduct in the second half.
