LENS have decided to take up their option on Lyon central defender Jacek Bak.

The Polish defender has been on loan at Lens for the latter part of the season and has impressed greatly during his short stay.

Bak fell out with Lyon coach Jacques Santini at the start of the season and was desperate to leave to make sure he made Poland's World Cup squad.

His form with Lens has cemented his place at Japan and Korea and now he is ready to seal a permanent deal for ‚é¼3.8 million.

Lens have also been linked with a move for PSG defender Bernard Mendy.

The 20-year-old is one of the brightest talents in the French game, but he has failed to establish himself at Parc des Princes under Luis Fernandez.

Jean-Luc Lamarche was one of Mendy's mentors at his previous club Caen, and now he is with Lens and could persuade the youngster to join him.
