BORDEAUX SWOOP FOR MERIEM

SOCHAUX midfielder Camel Meriem has snubbed a move to Lyon to sign for Championnat rivals Bordeaux.

The former French Under-21 international had looked like moving to Lyon, but Bordeaux have beaten them to the punch by signing the 22-year-old.

"He has signed a four-and-a-half year contract," Sochaux's sports director Bernard Genghini told AFP.

"There were two clubs very interested, Lyon and Bordeaux, and their offers were very close. The final decision went to Camel and he chose Bordeaux."

Bordeaux are believed to have paid a fee of around ‚é¼7.6 million (£4.7million) for the young star.
