Lyon missed out on the opportunity to leapfrog Marseille in to second place in Ligue 1 as they were held to a goalless draw by managerless Bastia.

Les Gones arrived in Corsica on the back of five successive league wins but a rugged Bastia side, combined with a poor playing surface, proved too much for the visitors to make the breakthrough.

Following on from their 2-0 win at Montpellier last week, the hosts' second clean sheet in as many matches helped secure a valuable point which moved them further clear of the bottom three.

Paul Georges Ntep's first-half strike was enough to earn Rennes a 1-0 victory away to Guingamp and move the visitors up to sixth, while the hosts remain in danger just one point off the foot of the table.

Monaco needed a 75th-minute equaliser from substitute Joao Moutinho to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to struggling Caen.

The hosts went ahead after five minutes thanks to Emmanuel Imorou's own goal. Bengali-Fode Koita equalised five minutes into the second half and an own goal from Geoffrey Kondogbia nine minutes later put Caen 2-1 up.

Monaco, who had dominated the first half, pressed for a leveller and finally found a way past inspired goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre when Moutinho finished from close range four minutes after coming on.

Nice and Reims played out a goalless Ligue 1 draw at the Allianz Riviera.

The result means that Reims are now six games unbeaten and they moved into the top half of the table, while Nice are one point and one spot further back in 10th.

Basement dwellers Lorient climbed off the bottom of the table with a 1-0 win over Lens.

Raphael Guerreiro scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute, but by that point Lens were already down to 10 men with Loic Landre having been sent off.

Lens now sit bottom of the table, with Lorient's third win of the campaign pushing them out of the drop zone.
