St Etienne have completed the signing of Kevin Theophile-Catherine from Cardiff City.
The 24-year-old has moved back to France after spending just one season in south Wales.
The former France Under-21 international defender joined Cardiff from Rennes last summer and played 18 games in the Premier League for the club.
"I am very happy to join St Etienne," Theophile-Catherine told the club's website.
"It is a great and mythical club in France. When the opportunity to go back to France appeared, I didn't hesitate."
