Bafetimbi Gomis is expected to leave Lyon this summer, but no pre-contract agreement is in place with a new employer.
With his current deal in France running down, Gomis is due to drop into the free agent pool at the end of the season.
With the penning of an extension at Stade Gerland highly unlikely, the 28-year-old can start planning a new challenge.
A switch to England has been mooted for some time, with Newcastle United having led the chase.
They have since looked elsewhere for attacking recruits, but interest from the Premier League and from Turkey remains.
It has been suggested that Gomis has already decided where he will be playing in 2013/14, with talks said to have been held, but the France international insists that is not the case and that his future remains very much up in the air.
He told L'Equipe: "I have not signed any pre-contract with anyone. I can pretty much go, as I can very well stay.
"I play with the mind-set of a player who loves his club and respects his contract.
"I would not want to give the impression that my head is somewhere else.
"I'm still proud to wear these colours and I have a lot of ambitions with OL, so don't expect me to give up."
