Remy Cabella's father has stated that he believes his son will join Newcastle United this January.
Sky Sports revealed earlier this month that Cabella was one of the names top of Newcastle's wanted list for January.
Cabella has admitted that if the clubs agreed a deal he would listen, and that he would be interested in a move to England - but he also insisted he would be happy to stay with Montpellier and help their battle against relegation.
Asked whether a deal was happening, his father Hector Cabella is quoted by Actuafoot as saying: "Yes we are negotiating for Remy and yes he will join Newcastle this winter."
Cabella, though, is expected to feature against Sochaux on Saturday evening, which could transpire to be his final game.
However, Montpellier's sporting director Bruno Carotti announced that their position remained unchanged and they were not looking to sell.
"Montpellier wants to move up the league and we do not want to separate from Remy Cabella," he is quoted by French Eurosport.
"We do not have an offer from Newcastle, there is nothing for the moment."
