Marseille forward Andre Ayew is facing two months out after it was confirmed he requires surgery on a knee injury he suffered while playing for Ghana on Tuesday.

Ayew left Ghana's World Cup qualifier - which they lost 2-1 on the night but won 7-3 on aggregate - in the 55th minute after feeling pain in his left knee.

Further examinations upon his return to Marseille have found a meniscal tear, the club said in a statement.

The 23-year-old is scheduled to have an operation on Monday, after which it is estimated he will be sidelined for eight weeks.
