Former Paris St Germain boss Antoine Kombouare has been confirmed as the new coach of Ligue 2 side Lens on a three-year contract.
The 49-year-old, who was sacked by PSG in December 2011 despite the capital club sitting top of the Ligue 1 table, was most recently employed by Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal FC before being dismissed in January - six months into his one-year deal.
"I have come for the challenge," he said of his new job on lequipe.fr. "My career is such that I sometimes end up where you would not expect me.
"The presence of Gervais (Martel, Lens president) made the difference. For several years he wanted us to work together. I always said that one day it would be possible.
"This is Lens - a big club. It has no place in Ligue 2. I want to address this challenge. I want to lift the club up, with all the difficulties that entails. It is a personal and professional challenge."
