Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti has confirmed that Stephane Dalmat is likely to be heading out of the club during the winter transfer window.

Rennes prepared to part with experienced midfielder

Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti has confirmed that Stephane Dalmat is likely to be heading out of the club during the winter transfer window. The much-travelled midfielder has been with the Ligue 1 outfit since the summer of 2010, but has slipped slowly down the pecking order. He has been left out of the Rennes squad for their Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid in midweek, with Antonetti favouring other options. The 32-year-old is understood to now be looking for a move elsewhere, with it important for him to be playing regular football at this stage of his career. Antonetti will not stand in the way of the former Inter Milan and Tottenham playmaker, but has warned Dalmat that he must shoulder some of the blame for his failure to make a mark at Rennes.

Challenge

He said: "Would it be good for him to leave for a new challenge? We have asked the question and he is asking the same question. "He is in a difficult situation. "He is a good player and he has shown that at times, but we have not enjoyed success together. "He is partly responsible for that, but not alone."
