Marseille playmaker Lucho Gonzalez's proposed move to Serie A side Roma has reportedly hit a snag.

Playmaker prepared to take wage cut to secure Serie A move

Marseille playmaker Lucho Gonzalez's proposed move to Serie A side Roma has reportedly hit a snag. The 30-year-old has expressed his desire to leave the French side to try his luck in Italy, but Marseille's asking price is understood to be proving a stumbling block. They want in excess of €10million (£8.7million) for the Argentina international, a figure Roma are not prepared to pay for a player of Gonzalez's age. Reports in L'Equipe suggest Gonzalez is prepared to take a significant wage cut if Roma will up their offer, such is his determination to seal the move. Contracted until 2013, boss Didier Deschamps is expected to name the player in his starting XI in Marseille's opening Ligue 1 fixture against Sochaux on Saturday, despite the saga.
