Gabriel Heinze has confirmed he will leave Marseille at the end of the Ligue 1 season.

Veteran defender lacks faith in club's ambitions

Gabriel Heinze has confirmed he will leave Marseille at the end of the Ligue 1 season. Marseille end their campaign with a trip to Caen on Sunday having already lost out on the title to Lille. Heinze, who joined the French side from Real Madrid in 2009, insists his decision to leave is not financially driven but comes out of ambition. "I think in a completely different way than the club owners," he said. "It's not a question of money, which is not everything in life. It's a question of the project. "(Manager) Didier Deschamps made me come here while speaking of the project, and I see that this project will not carry on. "The difference lies with the ambition of the project. It's better for me to leave. I feel I'm doing the club a favour by leaving."
