Lille captain Rio Mavuba has extended his contract with the Ligue 1 leaders until 2015, the club has confirmed.
The 26-year-old holding midfielder, capped six times for France, has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.
Mavuba started his playing career at Bordeaux, spending four years at the French club before joining Spanish side Villarreal on an unsuccessful one-year stint.
He arrived at Lille on loan from the Primera Liga club in January 2008 and the transfer was made permanent the following summer.
Mavuba becomes the third Lille player to extend his deal at the French club since the beginning of the year after defender Franck Beria and goalkeeper Mickael Landreau.
Right-back Mathieu Debuchy is expected to follow their lead in the near future, but central midfielder Florent Balmont recently expressed disappointment that Lille were yet to offer him a new contract.
