Jean Fernandez is doing his best to nurse his walking wounded back to full health at Auxerre.
The Ligue 1 outfit have been blighted by injury problems this term, with key men laid low at important times.
Top marksman Ireneusz Jelen is among those to have been sidelined this season and he is yet to recapture his best form.
Fernandez admits the Pole's situation poses him a dilemma, with the striker needing games to rebuild his fitness but unable to offer much to the side while he completes his recovery.
"Since the start of the season we have not fared well, like Jelen," he told L'Equipe.
"It is not right to say we are playing with 10 players, but it feels like it at times.
"Currently the team has to work with a handicap. But Jelen went four months without playing and you can see that.
"Now I have to try and limit the damage while we wait for Benoit Pedretti and Delvin Ndinga to return."
