Sochaux coach Francis Gillot is pleased to have Charlie Davies available again but will not rush his return.
The United States international was named on the bench for last weekend's fixture with Bordeaux, completing a remarkable turnaround for the 24-year-old.
He moved to France in 2009 but made just eight appearances for Sochaux before he was involved in a serious car crash.
It has been a long road back for the American from that point, but he can finally see light at the end of the tunnel.
Gillot claims it is still far too early for Davies to be considered for a starting berth, but is delighted to see him fit and healthy again.
Improving
"Naming him as a substitute was reward for all of his hard work," he told
L'Equipe.
"But I never thought about playing him, Charlie is not fit enough yet.
"He has worked hard now for a year and he is improving. However, his progress has to be very slow."
Reports in France suggest Gillot is keen to send Davies out on loan, but the player is determined to stay and fight for his place.
Meanwhile, it is also claimed that Czech Republic international Vaclav Sverkos is attracting interest from Sevilla after falling out of favour in France.
