Marseille boss Didier Deschamps will have no qualms about rushing new signing Rod Fanni into action.
The France international only completed a switch from Rennes in the week, meaning he has only trained with his new team-mates on three occasions.
However, Marseille face a defensive headache ahead of their crunch clash with Lyon on Sunday, with a number of players out injured.
With that in mind, Deschamps accepts that he will be forced to throw Fanni in at the deep end.
"Three days is not ideal, I would rather he had been here a month," he said.
"But I know his qualities and the team needs him. I have no worries about him. I trust him.
"He will play somewhere in the defence, but I haven't decided where yet. He came to play at right-back but his versatility is interesting."
Fanni could be asked to fill in at centre-half against Lyon, as Souleymane Diawara's participation remains in doubt.
He has challenged a two-match ban handed down by the French authorities but is yet to hear whether that appeal has been successful.
