Auxerre's injury troubles continue to mount, with Benoit Pedretti and Cedric Hengbart laid low. Jean Fernandez's side have endured wretched luck on the injury front this term, with key men ruled out at important times. Star strike duo Anthony Le Tallec and Ireneusz Jelen have been greatly missed, severely limiting Auxerre's firepower. Club captain Pedretti has now joined the list of walking wounded, having picked up a knock in Wednesday's 2-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Ajax.

He suffered a slight groin strain in that contest and will now miss the weekend trip to Sochaux. Talented full-back Hengbart also sustained an injury against Ajax and his problem is believed to be more serious. It is feared that he has torn a muscle and initial reports suggest he could be sidelined for up to a month. The news comes as a major blow to Fernandez as he has seen his side make a stuttering start to the season, with an 11th-placed standing not what was expected of AJA before the campaign got underway.
