Stuttgart manager Christian Gross has confirmed his interest in Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew.
Ayew was loaned out to Arles-Avignon last season and helped the club gain promotion to Ligue 1.
He then shot to prominence with a string of eye-catching displays for Ghana at the World Cup, fuelling transfer speculation.
Didier Deschamps has stated that the 20-year-old will play more regularly during the forthcoming campaign, but the Marseille manager could find his resolve tested as there is reportedly widespread interest.
Ayew is thought to be wanted in Italy as well as Germany, but Gross hopes to beat off competition from the likes of Schalke and Borussia Dortmund.
"He is one of those players that had a great run at the recent World Cup," Gross told Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
"I could well imagine him being a player that would do well for VfB (Stuttgart)."
Reports suggest Stuttgart could be set to make an offer of around £800,000 for Ayew, who is under contract at Marseille until June 2011.
